Okeechobee, FL – An 18-year-old has been charged in connection with a video that was posted online of a 16-year-old boy with autism being attacked. As reported by ABC Action News, police have charged Andrew Wheeler and another person in the case.
According to an Okeechobee City Police Department incident report, the victim told detectives that he was directed to fight someone at a party he was invited to where alcohol was served. Wheeler was reportedly called after the teenager refused, and began beating him when he showed up at the home where the party was being held.
The victim was taken to the hospital after sustaining several injuries in the attack. An officer learned that the video had been posted to social media while at the hospital.
Wheeler has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm.
