Washington – Attorney General Eric Holder has promised there would be a civil rights probe into the shooting death of unarmed teen Michael Brown. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Holder made the promise to the family of Brown during a telephone call according to a law enforcement official.

A police officer shot and killed Brown, 18, in Ferguson, Missouri, sparking local and national protests. Justice Department Community Relations Service representatives have been sent to Ferguson to assist with crowd control for demonstrators as investigations into the shooting continue.

A civil rights investigation into the incident has reportedly been enacted by the FBI and the Justice Department.
