Los Angeles – California lawmaker State Senator Leland Yee is now facing additional charges after being indicted by a grand jury for corruption earlier this year. As reported by Reuters, conspiracy charges were recently returned by a grand jury against Yee, 65, who along with two other California state senators was suspended in March.
The three senators were suspended on ethics charges. Yee was accused of among other things, accepting money from an undercover agent for the purchase of weapons, and charged with conspiracy and wire fraud.
The most recent indictment against Yee was entered in U.S. District Court in San Francisco.
If convicted on the charges filed against him, Yee faces up to 20 years in prison.
