California – Fruit sold at Trader Joe’s, Costco, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, and Foods Co. has been voluntarily recalled by a packing company in California. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, Wawona Packing Co. has recalled white and yellow nectarines, peaches, and other specific lots of products packaged between June 1 and July 12 over contamination concerns.

According to a statement released by the company, it is unknown where the lots of the fruit that was possible contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes was shipped, prompting a nationwide recall. Baked goods made using the affected fruit was also included in the recall.

Brent Smittcamp, president of Wawona Packing Co., is quoted in the report as saying in a statement about the recall, “We are aware of no illnesses related to the consumption of these products… By taking the precautionary step of recalling product, we will minimize even the slightest risk to public health, and that is our priority.”
