Massachusetts – Bose Corp has accused Beats Electronics of patent infringement in a new lawsuit. As reported by Reuters, the high-end sound system developer alleges Beats infringed upon five of its noise-cancellation technology related patents purportedly used in its Studio and Studio Wireless line of headphones.

The lawsuit was filed on Friday in Delaware in a federal court. Bose claims it experienced a decline in profits and sales as a result of the alleged infringement.

A representative of Bose is quoted as stating of the matter, “We are committed to protecting our investment, protecting our customers, and defending the patents we own.”

Earlier this year, Apple Inc announced a deal to acquire Beats, which was founded in 2006 by hip hop mogul Dr. Dre and a business partner for $3 billion.
