Seattle – The daughter of Casey Kasem, the famous television personality who died last month, is seeking authorization of an autopsy on her father’s body. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Kerri Kasem made the request to Pierce County Superior Court judge that an autopsy as well as a restraining order to prevent his body from being cremated be approved.

Kasem reportedly suffered from dementia. Prior to his death on June 15, his three adult children and his wife Jean became embroiled in a legal battle concerning his health care. Kerri Kasem recently expressed concerns about why her stepmother, whom Casey Kasem was married to for 34 years, planned an autopsy that she may now take steps to prevent.

Kerri Kasem is quoted as writing in court filings, “I’m concerned about the results of any autopsy Jean Kasem may have commissioned and how they might be used… Consequently, I thought it would be best to ask the Washington Court to allow me to have an autopsy conducted by a forensic pathologist of my own selection.”

A hearing on the matter has been scheduled for July 25.
