Seattle – A Seattle doctor accused of engaging in sexual misconduct has been suspended from practice. As reported by Reuters, Arthur Zilberstein, an anesthesiologist and surgeon licensed in Washington state, allegedly improperly accessed medical images and sent out texts that were sexual in nature while performing surgeries, according to Washington health officials.

A state medical board is quoted as stating in legal documents that Zilberstein “frequently exchanged personal and often sexually explicit text messages.” As many as a purported 45 texts of this nature were sent out by the physician on a typical day that the doctor worked on surgical procedures from April to August of last year.

An investigation by the Washington Medical Quality Assurance Commission, which is a branch of the state health department, also found that Zilberstein accessed visual materials, “not for medical purposes but in order to view images of the patient for his own sexual gratification.”

Kelly Stowe, spokeswoman for the Washington State Department of Health, said that Zilberstein has 20 days to provide a response to the allegations from the probe and make a request for a hearing.
