Washington – Utah Senator Orrin Hatch recently expressed his opinion about the impact the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling on gay marriage last year will have on the nation. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Hatch stated during an appearance on KSL-Radio’s Doug Wright Show that gay marriage will inevitably be legal throughout the US.

Hatch is quoted by the AP as stating, “Let’s face it: anybody who does not believe that gay marriage is going to be the law of the land just hasn’t been observing what’s going on.”

Although the seven-term Republican senator has been a proponent of measures for keeping marriage between one man and one woman in the eyes of the law, he went on to defend two judges in Utah who recently issued pro-gay marriage rulings.

Hatch stated of the decisions by federal judges Robert Shelby and Dale Kimball, “How do you blame the judge for deciding a case in accordance with what the Supreme Court has already articulated?”

Since the Supreme Court’s ruling, 14 gay marriage cases have been won by gay rights activists, bringing the total number of states in the US that have legalized gay marriage to 19.
