Vista, CA – Christian heavy metal singer Tim Lambesis has been sentenced in connection with charges stemming from a plot to kill his estranged wife. As reported by UTSanDiego.com, Lambesis was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday in Vista Superior Court.

Lambesis is accused of asking a trainer at a gym for help after telling people he wanted to “get rid of” his wife. The trainer reported the incident to an attorney and later arranged a meeting with Lambesis, telling him he would put him in contact with someone named “Red,” who was actually an undercover detective.

Lambesis met with “Red,” believing him to be a hit man in May and handed over money, photos of his estranged wife and information that would allow access into her home. He was arrested and charged with solicitation of murder on May 7, 2013.

Judge Carlos Armour is quoted as stating of Lambesis’ behavior, which the defense attributed to his use of steroids, “It has to be a flaw of character… Something twisted inside the defendant.”

Lambesis ex-wife Meggan Murphy is quoted as stating to a judge on Friday, “The question of who else Tim talked to or will talk to will forever haunt me… I am plagued by vulnerability.”
