Duncanville, TX – Hundreds of students were sent home early on Wednesday from Duncanville high school for being in violation of the dress code. As reported by Fox 4 News, the Duncanville Independent School District said that an estimated 170 students were forced to leave, while an unknown number of others were given in-school suspensions for violations.

A number of parents and students complained about the widespread enforcement of the dress code at the end of the school year. As noted in the report, a source says that every student was inspected individually Wednesday morning.

Angela Salerno, is quoted as writing on the Facebook page of Fox 4, “My son got sent home from Duncanville ISD for chin hair stubble. What does this have to do with his education?”

Duncanville High School Principal Andre Smith is quoted as stating of the issue, “We want to teach them that they must meet the expectations not only here in school but outside of school as well.”
