Los Angeles – Shelly Sterling, whose estranged husband Donald Sterling is under fire over racial comments he made that were recently made public, is reportedly seeking to keep her percentage of ownership in the Los Angeles Clippers amid the NBA’s plans to force new ownership. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Pierce O’Donnell, Shelly Sterling’s lawyer, said Thursday that her client plans to fight to retain her 50 percent stake in the franchise.
O’Donnell is quoted as stating, “As her lawyers we will fight vigorously to defend her property rights.”
Donald Sterling was previously banned from the NBA for life by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver after recordings surfaced of Sterling telling friend V. Stiviano not to bring black people to Clippers games.
O’Donnell further stated of the matter, “We abhor guilt by association in America…The sins of the husband cannot be imputed to the wife or children.”
