Kansas – A woman claims that her $10,000 necklace was replaced with a counterfeit one when she took it to a jewelry store to be repaired. As reported by KCTV, the woman, Dawn Corlew, says that the incident, which occurred in March, has left her sick.

Corlew says she took a piece of jewelry to Jewelry Arts a few years ago and returned to them in March to fix a problem with the chain of her diamond and platinum necklace after the initial service went well. She claims that the necklace she received back was one valued at only $50.

Jewelry Arts owner Mark Newman denies Corlew’s claim, and says a picture of the jewelry had been taken and the correct piece was returned to her.

Corlew is quoted as stating of the matter, “I am so devastated by this. I cannot sleep and I have been sick to my stomach over this… This just cannot be let go.” She says she plans to take the issue to small claims court.

Jewelry Arts, located in Corinth Mall, has been in business for over 30 years.
