California – A California man awaiting a murder trial is said to have confessed to killing 40 people. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), prosecutors say suspected contract killer Jose Manuel Martinez, 51, confessed to the slayings to investigators, providing believable details about what occurred.

As noted in the report, Martinez was arrested in Arizona last year shortly after he crossed the border from Mexico. He was subsequently questioned by investigators from across the U.S. after his arrest. He is now awaiting trial in Alabama.

Martinez is accused of targeting victims in various counties between 1980 and 2011.

His mother, Loreta Fernandez, is quoted as stating in Spanish of the acts allegedly committed by her son, β€œAll I can say is God bless him and that not everything he’s saying is true.”
