Pakistan – A nine-month-old boy was charged along with his family with attempted murder in Pakistan. As reported by AFP, the child and his family were booked in connection with a rock-throwing incident that occurred in February.

Baby Mohammad Musa, his father, and other members of his family were accused in the case of throwing rocks at gas company officials, the family’s attorney Chaudhry Irfan Sadiq has said. The child appeared with his family in court on Thursday.

Some say the case illustrates shortcomings in the legal system in the country. The minimum age of criminal responsibility in Pakistan is 12, with the exception of terrorism cases.

Sadiq is quoted by AFP as stating of the charges against the child, “The court should have simply referred the minor’s case to the High Court to drop the charges against the innocent child and acquit him from the case.”
