$600,000 reportedly stolen from Houston megachurch of Joel Osteen

Houston – The theft of $600,000 from the Houston megachurch of Pastor Joel Osteen is being investigated after a church employee reported the matter to authorities on Monday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), $200,000 in cash and $400,000 in checks had been taken from a safe sometime between late Sunday and early Monday morning police spokesman Kese Smith stated on Tuesday.

A statement was issued by Lakewood Church on Monday that reads, “We are working with the police to fully investigate the incident… The funds were fully insured, and we are working with our insurance company to restore the stolen funds to the church.”

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the theft.
