Peru – Peru has stated that it will extradite Joran van der Sloot to the United States upon completion of his murder conviction in 2038. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the Dutch citizen will face charges in the U.S. for alleged fraud and extortion.

Van der Sloot was convicted of killing 21-year-old Peruvian student Stephany Flores, five years after the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway during a high school graduation trip to Aruba. Holloway was reportedly last seen leaving a bar with Van der Sloot. Charges were not filed against him in the case. A judge declared Holloway legally dead after her body was never found.

Van der Sloot was sentenced to 28 years in prison for Flores’ death. Prosecutors in the U.S. allege that he accepted money from Holloway’s family in 2010, promising to lead an attorney to her body.
