San Diego, CA – The city of San Diego is set to pay out $250,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit against former mayor Bob Filner. As reported by Reuters, Filner, 71, will not be required to pay anything out of pocket in accordance with a separate deal reached with the city prior to giving his resignation last year.

The lawsuit was filed by Irene McCormack, who was the first of multiple women to accuse Filner of inappropriate behavior during his time as mayor. Filner pleaded guilty to criminal charges related to the allegations in October. He was subsequently sentenced to three months of home confinement.

City Attorney Jan Goldsmith is quoted by Reuters as stating to reporters while announcing the agreement on Monday, “This is a big step towards putting this behind our community… This is what’s called a clean settlement in that there are no hanging issues.”
