Santa Ana – A second woman has been charged in connection with a fatal beating outside of a nightclub in Southern California. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Candace Brito pleaded not guilty to murder in Orange County Superior Court on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people gathered to mourn the death of Annie Hung Kim Pham, 23, as Brito’s arraignment was held. Brito’s attorney, Michael Molfetta, denied he involvement in a confrontation outside of Santa Ana nightclub The Crosby that led to Pham’s death on Jan. 18.

Molfetta is quoted by the AP as stating, “Throughout the course of all of this… Ms. Pham has been anointed a saint and people on the other side … have been vilified internationally. That’s irresponsible, and that’s wrong. And the evidence is going to bear that out.”

Brito is being held on $1 million bail.
