Rhode Island – Students at a Rhode Island middle school were caught snorting Smarties candy, which some say is an increasing dangerous trend. As reported by MyFoxPhilly.com, multiple Portsmouth Middle School students were caught engaging in the behavior which is said to be just as dangerous as inhaling certain drugs.

State Behavioral Health Care Administrator Rebecca Boss, is quoted in the report as stating of the warning signs about the trend, “Any kinds of changes in behavior are definitely indications that the child is doing something they may not want the parent to know about.”

Adrian Markey, a concerned parent is further quoted as stating, “Where do they get these ideas? You know, can they harm themselves? You know, what will it lead to? They are all concerns obviously.”

Snorting the candy poses a threat of irritation and infection experts say.
