San Francisco – Messaging service startup Snapchat filed for a temporary restraining order against Frank Reginald Brown on Friday. As reported by Reuters, the court documents filed in California accuse Brown of disclosing confidential information to the media about the company.

The documents assert that Brown leaked testimony from a deposition that “Snapchat had designated as confidential under the Protective Order entered in this case.”

Brown, who contends the company was his idea, says he reserves the right to publicly disclose the information. He has filed a lawsuit against Snapchat claiming breach of partnership agreement.

A group of Standford University students started Snapchat in 2011. The popular social networking site allows users to view photo messages for up to 10 seconds before they disappear.
