New York – Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd is reportedly set to be fined $50,000 by the NBA over a spilled beverage. He has been accused of letting the incident happen intentionally to manipulate extra time. As reported by Yahoo! Sports, Kidd was caught by TV replays telling Tyshawn Taylor, a guard for the Nets, “hit me” with seconds left in the game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Taylor subsequently walked into the coach who spilled his cup of soda.

The spill resulted in officials having to take extra time to cleanup the floor, allowing Kidd the opportunity to draw up an offensive play and huddle with the team.

Kidd denied purposely spilling the drink, stating to reporters at the game, “The cup slipped out of my hand… I was getting tired. Sweaty palms. I was never good with the ball. So, in the heat of the battle, you’re trying to get guys in and out of the game, and the Coke fell out of my hand.”
