Longview, TX – A nurse died in a stabbing attack at an East Texas hospital, in which four other people sustained injuries. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the suspect in the attack at the Ambulatory Surgical Center of Good Shepherd Medical Center, 22-year-old Kyron Rayshawn Templeton, was apprehended by police after the attack and has been charged with aggravated assault on four counts. Bond for Templeton has been set at $2.6 million.
The nurse killed in the stabbings was identified by hospital CEO Steve Altmiller as Gail Sandidge at a news conference on Tuesday. Altmiller is quoted as stating of the nurse’s death, “The Good Shepherd family tragically lost a member of our team this morning.”
Altmiller is further quoted as stating, “All of the victims were taken to the emergency center for assessment and treatment… This was an isolated incident that was diligently handled by the Longview Police Department and our Good Shepherd response team.”
A motive for the attack was not clear at the time of the report.
