Washington – President Barack Obama offered an apology to Americans who have experienced problems related to the rollout of the new health care law. As reported by the Huffington Post, the apology was the first given by the president for the glitches linked to the website used to facilitate the online health care exchanges.

Obama is quoted as stating to NBC News during the interview, “I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me.”

In addition to the technical issues of the website, a reported 3.5 million Americans have also received cancellation notices from insurance companies, which have led to some accusing the president of making false promises of their being able to keep their same policies in order to sell the law to the public.

Obama is further quoted as stating, “We weren’t as clear as we needed to be in terms of the changes that were taking place… And I want to do everything we can to make sure that people are finding themselves in a good position, a better position than they were before this law happened.”
