Houston – A Texas private school principal has been charged with animal cruelty after being reported to authorities over the deplorable condition her dogs were found to have been in. As reported by ABC News, the woman, Rosa Martinez, 57, was arrested on Monday and charged on two counts.

Martinez had reportedly taken her dogs to Houston’s Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care, where a veterinarian tipped off police. One of the dogs was stated to have an injured leg that appeared to have rotted off.

Martinez, who has maintained her innocence in the matter, is quoted as stating to KTRK of the allegations against her, “It really upsets me… I know you have to have advocates to protect them. In my case, it’s not fair. I didn’t do anything wrong.”
