Los Angeles – A lawsuit filed by a former boyfriend of singer Shakira alleging she owes him tens of millions of dollars has been dropped. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Abraham Khan dismissed the case Thursday arguing that it should be filed in Columbia or the Bahamas as opposed to the state of California.

Antonio de la Rua filed the lawsuit against Shakira in April claiming he had not been paid in accordance with business contracts between him and his former girlfriend of more than a decade since 2010. The couple split in 2011.

Shakira is quoted by the AP as saying in a statement of the court’s decision Thursday, “I am very grateful that the courts are not allowing these groundless lawsuits to proceed… I have moved on in my life and could not be happier now. I hope this harassment will now come to an end.”
