Stanton, California – A California grandmother shot at, but missed a man trying to break into her home early Sunday morning. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), 72-year-old Jan Cooper, of Anaheim, has expressed shock regarding the attention garnered about the incident, but states she does not regret her actions in trying to protect herself and her husband.

Cooper is quoted by the AP as being heard stating during a call to 911, “You’d better get the police here. I don’t know whether I hit him or not. I’m not sure. He’s standing at my door, my back door. He’s in my yard.”

Brandon Alexander Perez, 31, the suspect, was arrested shortly following the call by responding deputies. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge of burglary and is expected to appear in court this month.
