Florida – Chairman and CEO of the popular Papa John’s pizza chain, John Schnatter, offered an apology for a racist rant a delivery man left on the voicemail of a customer. As reported by Good Morning America, the delivery man of a Sanford area store and another employee were fired after being heard on the voicemail using racial slurs. The four-minute voicemail was reportedly left inadvertently after the customer’s number was “butt-dialed” by the delivery man.

On part of the voicemail, the delivery driver can reportedly be heard saying while complaining about a tip he received from the customer, “I guess that’s the only requirement for being a [insert N-word] in Sanford… Yeah, they give me five bucks there — fine outstanding African-American gentleman of the community.”

Schnatter is quoted in the report as posting in response to the incident on the company’s Facebook page, “Friends, I am extremely concerned to learn about the reprehensible language used by two former employees in one of our restaurants… Their thinking and actions defy both my personal and the company’s values, and everything for which this company stands.”
