Philadelphia – A mother is seeking tougher punishment for a teacher who was suspended after giving a copy of the controversial book “50 Shades of Grey” to a high school student. As reported by The Daily Caller, the Philadelphia high school teacher, Philip Aidoo, claimed he was not aware of the mature content of the novel when he ordered books for students after they gave him a list of books they wanted to read.

Aidoo received a suspension for the incident, which officials at Eastern University Academy Charter School called an “unfortunate mistake.” The student’s mother; however, wanted Aidoo fired.

Maya Ladson is quoted in the report as stating of the matter, “This was a 100-percent act of negligence. There should never be pornographic material purchased and distributed to a student by a school teacher.”
