East Hanover, N.J. – A whistleblower lawsuit has been filed against Rutgers University by a former employee who is accusing the school of retaliation after he complained about basketball players being mistreated. As reported by The Associated Press (AP), the suit was filed in state court on Friday by Eric Murdock, who publicly released a video that showed the then coach Mike Rice shoving and berating players. Rice was subsequently dismissed as coach and the university’s athletic director has since resigned.

Murdock is quoted by the AP as stating in a news conference, “Efforts to get Rutgers to address their problems were ignored for months… Instead I was removed from my position. That is wrong and why I filed a lawsuit.”

The lawsuit alleges the university violated the state’s employee protection act in addition to other accusations.
