North Korea – North Korean leader Kim Jong signed an order last week placing missile units on standby in the event of a possible war. As reported by Reuters, the order was signed after the United States responded to several threats by North Korea with a show of force in flying two radar-evading B-2 Spirit bombers over the Korean peninsula.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of Russia called for stalled talks on North Korea to resume amid high tensions between the country and the U.S. and others.

North Korea has reportedly cancelled an armistice agreement with the United States and taken other actions.

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is quoted in the report as stating to reporters at the Pentagon of the situation, “The North Koreans have to understand that what they’re doing is very dangerous…We must make clear that these provocations by the North are taken by us very seriously and we’ll respond to that.”
