New York – A former vice president at German bank, Deutsche Bank AG, is accusing the bank of gender bias in a sex discrimination lawsuit. As reported by Reuters, the lawsuit was filed by Heather Zhao, who purported a male supervisor carried out acts discrimination against her and retaliated after she filed a complaint by not granting her an anticipated bonus.

Zhao’s suit alleges, among other things, that the bank targeted women in a mass layoff and that she was fired prior to being set to return to work from maternity leave early this year.

A spokesman for Deutsche Bank is quoted in the report as stating of the allegations in the lawsuit, “The claims asserted are without merit and the bank intends to defend itself vigorously.”
