New York – A man charged in the murder and dismemberment of his mother wore a trash bag to court on Thursday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Bahsid McLean, 23, appeared in court proclaiming his innocence.

McLean has been accused of stabbing Tanya Byrd and using another person’s help to cut up her body. Byrd’s remains were reportedly found stuffed in plastic garbage bags.

McLean is quoted as stating during his court appearance, “I didn’t do anything wrong.”

An attorney for McLean, Jerry Iannece, said the reason his client had worn the bag was due to his urinating on himself and sitting in soaked clothing.

Iannece is further quoted as stating of the case, “Everybody’s innocent until proven guilty… Obviously this is a troubling case, but we will investigate and defend it thoroughly.”
