Argentina – A 22-year-old Argentinian woman has wed the man who is serving a prison sentence for the death of her sister. As reported by The Independent, the woman, Edith Casas, 22, married Víctor Cingolani, 28 on Valentine’s Day, after Cingolani was found to be a “willing participant” in the 2010 shooting death of Casas’ 19-year-old sister last year.

Protestors threw stones and eggs at the entrance of the registry office where the couple’s ceremony took place last week, with some related arrests being made.

Cingolani, who is currently serving a 13-year prison sentence and maintains his innocence in the murder, is quoted in the report as stating of the union, “I’m getting married because I love Edith… I didn’t think the wedding would have so many repercussions worldwide.”

Edith Casas, who maintains Cingolani was wrongly convicted in her sister’s death, is quoted as having stated at the end of last year, “I’m going to get married to the person I love and not the person who killed my sister.”
