Philadelphia – The family of a kindergartener who was suspended from school for talking about a toy bubble gun is seeking to have her record cleared. As reported by Reuters, the unidentified Pennsylvania 5-year-old was suspended for talking about a Hello Kitty soap bubble toy gun to a friend. An adult reported the child after overhearing her conversation.

Attorney Robin Ficker is quoted in the report as stating of the incident, “She had no gun…She talked about the Hello Kitty Bubble Gun, just talked about it. They searched her back pack, they searched her coat, they searched her, she had no gun.”

A meeting between the family’s attorney and school district solicitor Edward Greco on the matter has reportedly been set for Jan. 30.
