Redding, California – Toyota Motor Corp has reportedly settled a case linked to a sudden acceleration accident that killed two people in 2010. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the automaker settled with family members of the victims of the Utah crash who brought forth the lawsuit that was expected to be a test case for several other pending similar cases.

Toyota is quoted as issuing a statement saying, “We sympathize with anyone in an accident involving one of our vehicles…however we continue to stand fully behind the safety and integrity of Toyota’s Electronic Throttle Control System, which multiple independent evaluations have confirmed as safe.”

The pending lawsuits will reportedly not be affected by the recent settlement.
