Texas – Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott aimed recent messages regarding gun control and lower taxes in the state at New Yorkers. As reported by Reuters, Abbott used campaign funds to purchase online ads targeting New York gun owners on the heels of the signing of a sweeping gun-control measure this week by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Abbott, who stated he would file suit regarding nationwide gun restrictions if they are implemented by Congress, is quoted by Reuters as stating, “Texas is better than New York, and New York just gave us another excuse to say that.”

Abbott is further quoted as stating of the ads, “It is tongue in cheek, but there is a deeper message here…Texas really does stand as the last bastion of ultimate freedom in this country. Over the last decade, more than 4 million people moved to this state, and one reason is freedom and one reason is economic opportunity.”
