New York – The conviction of a 95-year-old mob boss was upheld by a federal appeal’s court on Wednesday. As reported by the New York Post, the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals determined that a fair trial and proper sentence was provided in connection with the racketeering conspiracy conviction of John “Sonny” Franzese.

Franzese was sentenced to 8 years in prison last January after being convicted of extorting strip clubs in Manhattan and a Long Island pizzeria. Prosecutors sought a sentence of 12 years in the case.

Franzese is reportedly set to be released in June 2017.
