One dead in Fresno workplace shooting

Fresno, CA – A gunman killed one person and injured three others, including himself, in a workplace shooting on Tuesday. As reported by The Fresno Bee, the shooter, identified as 42-year-old Lawrence Jones, shot himself after opening gunfire and injuring other workers at the Valley Protein poultry processing plant in Fresno Tuesday morning.

The shooter and two of the injured victims were taken to Community Regional Medical Center and were listed in critical condition at the time of the report. Another victim, a 32-year-old man, was found dead inside of the plant.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer is quoted in the report as stating of the incident, “We’re still trying to determine what provoked these actions.”
