London – A man was arrested after he attempted to use a fake bomb to disrupt his sister’s wedding. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the man, 28-year-old Hasan Aydemir, was sentenced to four years in prison on Thursday in connection with the incident in March of last year.

Aydemir reportedly sent the packaged fake bomb through a London UPS branch, alleging that it contained wedding gifts for his sister. The parcel was found to contain a device made of wire, putty, and a clock, which bomb experts subsequently deemed a hoax.

Stuart Osborne, British police counterterrorism coordinator, is quoted by the AP as stating that Aydemir’s actions “ were extremely irresponsible and wasted valuable police resources both in Turkey and in London.”
