Barrow County, GA – A Georgia father believes that the death of his son in a drunk driving accident could have been prevented if a police officer had arrested the teen during a traffic stop prior to the crash. As reported by WSB-TV, Chris Walker says that although his son should not have made the decision to drink and drive, the officer who pulled the 18-year-old over within an hour before he had a fatal accident should have taken steps to determine whether he was under the influence.

Walker is quoted in the report as stating in reference to his son’s 2010 death, “We could have went and got him out of jail. But as it stands, we can’t get him out of the grave.”

Walker is further quoted as stating of the officer’s actions, “He suspected him of drinking obviously. If he would have just got him out of the truck and checked. They did absolutely nothing and allowed him to drive off.”
