Oklahoma City, OK – Eight people were injured in a shooting following an NBA playoff game in Oklahoma City. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the shooting, which authorities say stemmed from a fight not believed to be related to the game, occurred late Monday night in the Bricktown entertainment district.

Capt. Dexter Nelson is quoted by the AP as stating of the events, “All we’re hearing from some of the witnesses is there was pushing and shoving in the area… Apparently a group of girls got into it with some guys. It was shortly thereafter that gunfire erupted.”

A spokesperson for the Emergency Medical Services Authority is noted to have stated seven people were treated for gunshot wounds and another for injuries sustained during an assault as a result of the fight.

No arrests had reportedly been made in connection with the incident at the time of the AP report.
