Parker, Colorado – A lesbian couple has been accused of staging a hate crime. As reported by ABC News, Aimee Whitchurch, 37, and Christel Conklin, 29, of Colorado reported that they had been victims of a hate crime, but were subsequently arrested after authorities determined the incidents had been staged.

The couple previously reported that in October someone painted “Kill The Gay” on the garage door of their home. They also claimed a noose was found hanging on their front door handle. They were arrested and charged with criminal mischief and false reporting following an investigation.

Whitechurch, who reportedly expressed disagreement with the police’s assessment, is quoted by ABC News as stating, “This is a fight I started. This is a fight I’m going to finish. This is a fight I’m right on…I have every right to live where I want to live.”
