Queens, NY — Twelve people were trapped and two were injured when the third floor of a Queen’s home collapsed during a St. Patrick’s Day house party. The accident occurred at a three-story home on Beach 72nd Street in Arverne around 10:45 p.m., reported the New York Post.

The St. Patrick’s Day party had about 100 people at the home when the floor gave way.

Responding emergency crews used a bucket ladder to rescue eight people from the rubble, while four others were able to climb out on their own.

Two people were taken to St. John’s Hospital for treatment of injuries. One person reportedly suffered serious injuries, but was not in life-threatening condition. The second victim sustained only minor injuries.

The identities of the injured victims have not been released.

It is unknown at this time what caused the floor to collapse.

Investigations into the accident are underway.
