Columbia County, FL—A 14-year-old Lake City boy was behind the wheel of a 1994 Ford Mustang when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed in Columbia County Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011. The single-vehicle wreck resulted in two fatalities and left two others, both of whom are minors, in critical condition, according to information provided by the Gainesville Sun.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officials said Julian Little, 14, was operating a Ford Mustang in the southbound lane(s) of Southwest Haltiwagner Road when he lost control of the vehicle approximately one mile south of Columbia County Road 349.

Reports indicated the car rolled over before the roof collided with an oak tree. Two passengers in the vehicle, whom authorities identified as 26-year-old Jennifer Ann Grant and 10-year-old Ronnie Bass, suffered fatal injuries on impact. They were both residents of Lake City.

Little and a young child in the car, 6-year-old Joseph Grant, suffered critical injuries in the Columbia County crash. Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel rushed them to Shands at the University of Florida for treatment. They are also residents of Lake City.

According to state Highway Patrol troopers, none of the victims were wearing their seatbelts when the accident occurred.

It was not clear why the 14-year-old was driving or who the owner of the vehicle was.

Investigations into the double-fatality Florida crash are expected to be underway.
