Council Bluffs, IA—A local high school was turned upside down after hearing the news that three fellow freshmen and one eighth-grade student were involved in a rollover wreck, just north of Tri-Center High School. The crash, which critically injured the victims, occurred around 8:00 a.m., on Highway 191 near Persia, as reported by the Daily Nonpareil.

Four girls, who were believed to be on their way to school, were seriously injured when their vehicle veered into a ditch, rolled and landed upside down on its roof. During the rollover, one girl was ejected from the vehicle. A helicopter was called to the scene to transport two of the victims to Creighton University Medical Center, while the other two were rushed by ambulance to Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. The Iowa State Patrol has not concluded why the car veered into the ditch. The identities of the victims are currently being withheld pending family notification. A full investigation into the wreck is currently underway.

Counselors were available at the school for students who were affected by the wreck. The Loess Hills Area Education counselors were also available to students.
