Greenwood Township, PA — A 66-year-old man was killed in a logging accident in a wooded area off of Pfautz Valley Road in Greenwood Township on Thursday, January 19, 2012, reported WHPTV.com.

According to reports, Carlo Romig, 66, of Snyder County had been cutting down trees all day when one of the trees fell on him.

When he didn’t return home that day, his family alerted authorities.

Rescue crews had to use four-wheel drive wheels in order to enter the woods, where they then walked 100 yards before finding Romig’s body in the wooded area.

Officials reported that they believe Romig is from out-of-town, and was working with a logging crew as a sublet contractor with a saw mill.

The tree left Romig with major trauma, likely leading to his death.

A full investigation into the logging accident is underway.
