Seattle area Metro to pay $1.5 million in damages to Auburn truck driver’s family.

Seattle, WA (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–The family of an Auburn man, who was killed when the truck he was driving was hit by a Metro bus, filed a personal injury lawsuit against the county. As reported by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, King County officials have agreed to settle the wrongful death claim, based on the negligence of the Metro bus driver, for $1.5 million.

Michael Dahlquist, the 21 year-old pick-up truck driver, was hit and killed in April 2008 by the negligent Metro bus driver on Highway 164. According to a police investigation into the fatal bus versus truck wreck, the Metro driver may have been speeding when she struck the pick up truck. The Dahlquist family lawyer filed court documents alleging the bus driver had a history of accidents. The family accused the King County Transit Agency of negligence by allowing the bus driver to continue to drive. The driver was fired after the fatal accident.
