Atlanta, GA — A construction accident killed two workers Thursday, December 1, 2011, when a heavy piece of machinery toppled over in Atlanta. The fatal workplace accident occurred on Dallas Street, off the 500 block of Glen Iris Drive, at around 1 p.m., reported the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

According to reports, the two men were working on a 80-foot lift, which was extended to a height of 40 feet, while working on the exterior of Amli Old 4th Ward Apartment Homes when it got stuck. As the men were trying to move the lift, it fell over onto the concrete walkway across the street.

The two workers were identified as Rigoberto Lopez, 29, of Marietta and Karlos Turner, 42, of Dallas.

Responding emergency crews rushed the men to an area hospital, where their injuries proved fatal and they were pronounced dead.
