2,000-Pound Container Fell, Injured Lufkin Employee in Industrial Accident

Lufkin, TX — An industrial accident at Lufkin Industries hospitalized an employee with significant injuries when a 2,000-pound container fell on him on Saturday, July 16, 2011. The industrial accident occurred around 7:45 a.m., reported KTRE.

Lufkin fire officials reported that an employee sustained significant injuries to his back; in addition to internal injuries he sustained in the industrial accident. The victim reportedly was experiencing trouble breathing.

It was not reported how the container fell or the chain of events that led to the injurious industrial accident.

Responding emergency crews rushed the unidentified employee to Lufkin Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police have withheld his identity and his current condition.

A full investigation into the industrial accident is underway. Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to arrive at the scene to conduct an investigation as well.
