Kentucky Construction Worker Fell to his Death from Davenport Roof

Davenport, IA — A Kentucky construction worker was killed when he fell from a roof Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2011. The fatal construction accident occurred on the roof of the Muslim Community of the Quad-Cities at 2115 Kimberly Road in Bettendorf, at around 1:30 p.m. reported the Quad-City Times.

Officials reported that the victim, William R. Mangrum, 37, of Mayfield, Ky., was stretching rubber sheeting across the roof of the community center, when he plummeted 26 feet to the ground.

Responding emergency medical crews rushed Mangrum to Genesis Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Mangrum was reportedly employed by Klapp Roofing of Mayfield, Ky. at the time.

The Bettendorf Police Department are conducting an investigation.
